Study of the Month, March, 2009:

Oberbaum M, Yaniv I, Ben-Gal Y, et al. A randomized, controlled clinical trial of the homeopathic medication TRAUMEEL S in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced stomatitis in children undergoing stem cell transplantation. Cancer 2001;92:684–690.

This study’s primary author, Menachem Oberbaum, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s HomeoNet Forum to be held in Montréal.

The study used a homeopathic preparation (Traumeel S) for the treatment of a very specific condition (chemotherapy induced stomatitis) in a very specific population (children undergoing stem cell transplantation) in a hospital setting.

To find this article, we will do another google search however we will use the trolling method to find the study. This is the usual process when you have heard about a study, but are short on details.

1.       Enter “Cancer” and “Homeopathy” into the Google search engine.

2.       In the drop down menu, choose “more”, and click on “Scholar”.

3.       Start searching for your study using the information you know like the authors name, medicine used, or any other details you may remember.

4.   When I searched, the study I was looking for was on page 5.

This paper has a free PDF link to uha.org.uk and so you can access it without institutional affiliation.
