Dr. Bell attended Stanford University where she obtained both her M.D. and Ph.D. Her Ph.D. is in neuro- and bio-behavioral sciences. Dr. Bell is investigating individual psycho-physiological differences in healing responses during integrative medical treatment of persons with chronic diseases and health implications of high and low risk perception in environmental medicine. She is a Board Certified Geriatric Psychiatrist, Director of Research in the Program in Integrative Medicine, and Director of the Arizona Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research Training Program at the University of Arizona College Of Medicine |

Dr. Fabrizio Benedetti, M.D. is Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of Turin Medical School and at the National Institute of Neuroscience, Turin, Italy. Consultant of the Placebo Project at the US National Institute of Health and member of the six strong Placebo Study Group at Harvard University, he held positions at the University of California and the University of Texas. He identified some basic mechanisms of placebo responses across a variety of medical conditions, such as the involvement of endogenous opioids in placebo analgesia and of cholecystokinin in nocebo hyperalgesia, as well as the neuronal circuit that is affected by placebos in Parkinson’s disease. He is author of the book Placebo Effects (Oxford University Press 2008), which received the Highly Commended Book Award of the British Medical Association, and The Patient’s Brain (Oxford University Press 2010). |

Sunita Vohra, MD, MSc, University of Alberta

Dr. Sunita Vohra is a pediatrician and clinician scientist, with a Masters degree in clinical epidemiology and fellowship training in clinical pharmacology. She is a Professor, Dept. of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta, with a cross-appointment in Public Health Sciences. Dr. Vohra is the founding director of Canada's first academic pediatric integrative medicine program, the Complementary and Alternative Research and Education (CARE) program at the Stollery Children's Hospital (www.care.ualberta.ca). Dr. Vohra is the program director for Canada's first fellowship program in pediatric integrative medicine and the founding director of the Canadian Pediatric CAM Network (PedCAM) (www.pedcam.ca). She is the recipient of an Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Health Scholar Award. |
